Heritage Foundation

St. John’s Heritage Foundation

A legacy of the November 1, 2001 fire that destroyed St. John’s Church was the establishment in 2004 of St. John’s Heritage Foundation Incorporated.

The not-for-profit corporation was incorporated as a registered charity to receive gifts directed to help the congregation of St. John’s with it’s ongoing maintenance and preservation the National Historic Church building. The initial gift was a very substantial gift directed for permanent investment, the income from which is to be used for the stated purpose of the Foundation. Subsequent gifts have been added to the Foundation assets. Those who wish to ensure the future preservation of St. John’s are invited to consider an income tax deductible gift to support the Foundation’s work.

The Foundation is managed by an independent Board of Directors. Three Directors are appointed by the Parish of St. John’s, three are appointed by Foundation members at large and together the six Directors appoint a seventh to Chair the Board of Directors.
If you are interested in learning more about the Foundations work and objectives, please contact the Parish Office. They will be happy to put you in touch with Foundation Directors.

Planned Giving Opportunities

Planned Giving of others has provided a vitally important incoming-producing asset for our Parish. We receive significant income from our Planned Giving Account annually, due to generous Gift Planning by former and current members and friends of the Parish, or their family and friends. Without the benefit of this income, the financial realities of today’s congregation of St. John’s would be very difficult. We endeavour to be good stewards of these funds for our benefit, and for future generations. Planned Giving provides us the opportunity to become everlasting stewards of the work and properties of our Parish. Now would be a good time for all of us to review our personal desires and consider whether we wish to make a Planned Gift to St. John’s. Would you like to be in a position to know that St. John’s would benefit forever from a Planned Giving decision that you could make in your lifetime? There are a lot of options to accomplish this now or through your will if you plan ahead. Wills, gifts of cash, life insurance, annuities or other assets are just some of the possibilities. We encourage you to reflect upon your personal approach to Planned Giving and consider the options available. If you would like to discuss any of these options – our Rector (Rev. Michael Mitchell) or Planned Giving Officer (Jim Eisenhauer) would be pleased to talk with you, or put you in touch with other Planned Giving advisors within our Diocese. We encourage you to be a good steward of God’s work - Please plan today!
